We’ll start with my stairs. What’s under there?
Did you guess hardwood? Great job! Now how about my upstairs?
What’s under this gross shag?
Asbestos tile? What the fucking, fuck 1957?

I think we still have asbestos tiles. I removed most of the originals with my mum a few years ago. We’re both going to die of super cancer.

Yeah, I’m 90% sure that’s asbestos. If they’re 9"x9", I’d be 99% sure.

If I had only seen this photo, I’d have thought you bought an elementary school.

1950's: Asbestos will fix everything, asbestos all the things!
Now: What the fuck 1950's...

There’s asbestos under two layers of linoleum in my kitchen. The flooring in the kitchen is about 1" taller than the flooring in all adjacent rooms...

SO MANY kitchens are like that, it’s crazy. I understand how it happens, though. Laying down one more layer is always easier than stripping the old stuff. I’ve seen as many as SEVEN layers piled up in just one room.

Asbestos isn’t JUST in tiles either. I had some sheet vinyl flooring that I was going to remove before putting down new flooring. I took a sample to get it tested and found out it was made of cancer. So, I just encapsulated it and put new flooring over the top because fuck remediation. I DID go ahead and write “this is asbestos, good luck have fun don’t die” on the encapsulant before I covered it w/ laminate so in case someone else in the future decides to change the flooring, they know what they’re getting into.

You know that will be the last section they remove.
“Aw, goddammit!”

Whoops...you might accidentally kill yourself or at least spend quite some money to get that removed.

Are you sure that’s ACM? Also, just cover it. Asbestos is fine as long as it’s non-friable.

Berf. Get a Tyvek suite and respirator and pop them up with dry ice. Double bag them and chuck them.
